KOL Presidential Campaign – Political Communications · End-to-End
“Building a credible national platform for a presidential candidate running on substance, clarity, and a vision for governance — from first strategic brief to final ballot.”
- The Challenge
Presidential campaigns in Nigeria are among the most complex communications challenges in African politics. The electorate is vast, linguistically diverse, and deeply skeptical of political messaging that sounds like every other candidate’s. Attention is fragmented across broadcast, print, outdoor, and an increasingly dominant digital and social environment.
The Khadijah Okunnu presidential campaign faced a specific version of this challenge: building genuine national visibility and credibility for a candidate whose platform was grounded in substance and policy clarity rather than established political machinery or name recognition built over decades.
The risk was not obscurity — it was being visible without being believed. In a crowded field, a campaign that generates attention without generating trust accelerates its own irrelevance.
The strategic question Slice Media was asked to answer: how do you build a credible, resonant national profile for a candidate running on the quality of her ideas, in a media environment that rewards noise?
- The Strategy
Slice Media’s strategic recommendation was built on a single insight: in a field of candidates competing on volume, a campaign that competed on clarity would stand apart.
This translated into three strategic pillars:
-
- Positioning over promotion. Every piece of communication would lead with a specific, articulable point of view — not a slogan, not a promise, but a perspective on governance that the candidate could own and defend. The goal was to make Khadijah Okunnu the candidate audiences associated with a particular vision, not just a particular party or symbol.
- Credibility before reach. Rather than pursuing the widest possible audience immediately, the strategy prioritized building genuine credibility with the audiences whose endorsement or amplification would carry the most weight — civic leaders, journalists, professional communities, and informed urban voters — before scaling to broader reach.
- Integration across every channel. Outdoor, broadcast, print, and digital would tell exactly the same story, in exactly the same voice, with exactly the same visual language — so that no matter where an audience member encountered the campaign, the impression was the same. In a multi-party media environment where competing campaigns create visual and verbal noise, consistency is itself a signal of seriousness.
- The Execution
Slice Media deployed the full five-touchpoint system across the Khadijah Okunnu presidential campaign — the first campaign engagement in which every capability was integrated into a single, coherent execution from day one.
